How can I tell if my kitten is growing and developing properly?

Kittens average 100 grams (between 90 and 120 grams) at birth and should gain 10-15 grams per day. If you weigh your kitten every week and record the weight it will possible to check his/her progress against an ideal growth chart. The aim is for your kitten to be alert, lean and healthy with a good growth rate.

Bear in mind that male kittens are usually in the upper two-thirds of the weight range at a particular age and female kittens are usually in the lower two-thirds of the weight range. If you have any doubts about your kitten’s progress, consult your vet.
